Indy Carpet Two-Step Carpet Cleaning Process

Step 1– Our technician will do a walk through inspection with you to identify soiling conditions, carpet construction and stains.
Step 2– Please pre-vacuumed to remove bonded and soluble dry soil before arrival. Larger furniture will be left in place. Any furniture left in place will be protected by disposable blocks and tabs to prevent wood color transfer on the carpet.
Step 3– Spots and stains will be pre-treated for maximum removal. Traffic areas are pre-treated with a biodegradable solution.
Step 4– Once the soil has been loosened our technicians will start our state of the art truck mounted hot water extraction cleaning process. Pressure and heat will be regulated to keep the carpet from becoming overly wet. The pH level is balanced on every carpet which is accomplished during this extraction and rinse process. If any spots are not removed during the cleaning process, specialty spotting techniques are employed.
Step 5– Our technician will do a final walk through with you to point out the cleaning results and to make sure you are 100% satisfied.

Carpet Protection

Protected carpet stays cleaner, brighter, and fresher— longer! Plus, it makes vacuuming and cleaning up spots easier. So, don’t block off your room. Blockout the dirt and spills.

At Indy Carpet Cleaning, we help you extend the life of your investment. That’s why we offer the application of a professional-strength carpet protector with every carpet cleaning.

Indy Carpet Cleaning carpet protector helps your carpet resist dirt, spills, vacuuming and everyday wear and tear. It also reduces static electricity. Carpet fibers are naturally resistant to dry soil and water-based stains, but carpet protection helps to improve that resistance. And even though carpet is typically treated with carpet protection when it’s being made, that protection eventually weakens. It’s the inevitable outcome of daily foot traffic, vacuuming and soil and dirt. At Indy Carpet Cleaning, we recommend applying carpet protector after every cleaning. For homes with kids and pets, there’s no question you need extra carpet protection.

Have unpleasant odors overtaken our carpet? Let Indy Carpet apply our special deodorizer to your carpets after cleaning to eliminate odors at the source, leaving your carpets smelling their freshest.

From cooking to kids to pets, your home sees plenty of action, and carpet odor is inevitable. But no one wants carpet odors to linger. Unfortunately, scented candles and sprays only mask the odors, and they certainly can’t reach odors that are absorbed into your carpet. Indy Carpet Cleaning carpet deodorizers act as an odor remover—and a pet odor remover if you have pets–neutralizing them at their source. Our trained technicians will deodorize your entire carpet, paying special attention to any problem areas. When the job is done, you’re left with clean carpet—and a fresh, pleasing scent.

The Service Visit

There is very little you need to do to prepare for the arrival of our carpet cleaning crew. The only thing we ask is that you remove any fragile or valuable items from the rooms being cleaned.

Once we arrive, we will:

  • Conduct a pre-inspection of the rooms and/or items to be cleaned, noting any heavily soiled areas or traffic patterns.
  • Discuss the process with you and answer any questions you may have.
  • Pre-treat any areas of concern to ensure the most thorough cleaning.
  • Clean the entire area using our exclusive hot water extraction method.
  • Apply deodorizer or protector as requested, and groom the carpet.
  • Return your furniture to its original location, placing protective pads underneath.

Once all rooms/upholstery have been serviced, we will complete a final inspection with you to ensure that you are 100% satisfied.

While our powerful, truck-mounted vacuum system removes almost all of the moisture immediately, your carpet or upholstery may still be damp to the touch.

  • Using fans in any rooms cleaned and turning your air conditioning system on can help accelerate drying time.
  • Be sure to leave the protective pads under furniture legs and any paper used with upholstered items in place until the carpet and/or furniture is completely dry to avoid any color transfer.
  • You may walk on your carpet immediately after cleaning, but avoid wearing street shoes, as they may re-soil your carpet. Be especially careful when walking from damp, carpeted areas onto non-carpeted areas to avoid slipping.
  • If for any reason, you are not completely satisfied with the work performed, simply notify us within ten days of the cleaning and we will be happy to address any concerns you may have.

Recommended Cleaning Schedule

When it comes to carpet care, regular, professional cleanings are the best way to extend your carpet life and keep it looking like new. Manufacturers recommend frequent cleaning to increase the life of your investment, based on the number of inhabitants in your home, whether you have children and pets, and the climate where you live. But regardless of your situation, daily wear and tear is inevitable. Fight back by maintaining a regular cleaning schedule—and you can make a difference.

Dirt can burrow deep in the fibers of your carpet. Although you can’t always see it, waiting too long to correct the problem causes long-term damage that may be irreversible. With regular cleaning, you not only get rid of that unseen dirt, dust and sand, but you can address problem areas like spots and spills. Regular carpet care also eliminates pollutants and contaminants that affect the quality of your indoor environment. Allergy sufferers especially don’t want to breathe in the unhealthy pollutants that you dragged in from outdoors.

So don’t think that carpet care is just a matter of cleaning it once and you’re done. Regular, professional carpet cleanings are necessary for cleaner, healthier air and to increase the carpet life in your home. We recommend cleaning your carpet every six to 12 months depending on the activity in your home.

Carpet Care Tips

  1. Vacuum heavy traffic areas 2–3 times a week, and the rest of your carpet once a week
  2. Use indoor and outdoor mats at each entrance to reduce the amount of dirt tracked into your home. Be sure to clean these periodically to ensure their utmost effectiveness
  3. Keep a bottle of Indy Capret Cleaning on hand so you can treat spots and spills immediately, preventing today’s accidents from becoming tomorrow’s stains

  1. Vacuum heavy traffic areas 2–3 times a week, and the rest of your carpet once a week.
  2. Use both indoor and outdoor mats at each entrance to reduce the amount of dirt tracked into your home.
  3. In a pinch, make your own spot remover by mixing 1/4-teaspoon liquid detergent (without bleach) and 1 cup cold water.
  4. Over time, the protection on stain-resistant arpet wears down. For optimum performance, have a protector regularly applied after cleaning.
  5. Stain-resistant does not mean stain-proof. Be sure to act immediately to prevent spots and spills from causing permanent damage.
  6. Before using any spot removing product, test for colorfastness in an inconspicuous area.
  7. Test area rugs for colorfastness before placing over carpet since some rugs may tend to bleed.
  8. Vacuum under area rugs periodically to remove loose dirt that may have filtered through the rugs to your carpet.
  9. To avoid color transfer between furniture and flooring after a professional cleaning, leave the protective blocks in place until the carpet is completely dry (about two days).
  10. Your furniture collects everyday dirt and soil just like your carpet. For convenience, have both professionally cleaned at the same time.

What method do you use for cleaning?

The method we use for cleaning is hot water extraction, commonly referred to as steam cleaning. Indy Carpet Cleaning’s exclusive hot water extraction method removes the toughest, deepest dirt safely and gently.  Hot, soft water and a specially formulated cleaning solution are injected deep within the carpet fibers.  Then, a powerful suction extracts deep-down dirt, allergens, cleaning solution and 95% of the moisture.  It’s the cleaning method most recommended by carpet manufacturers.

Do I need to vacuum before the crew arrives?

A light vacuuming in the traffic areas is recommended but not required.  If needed, the crew can pre-vacuum the area to be cleaned.  Also, the equipment is vacuuming the entire time we are cleaning.

What do you consider as an area?

Typically, an area is a room that is up to 300 square feet (that is 15 x 20 or approximately the size of a two-car garage). Living room/dining room combos are considered two areas. Any area over 300 square feet but less than 600 square feet is priced as two areas. Non-standard areas (baths, halls, landings, walk-in-closets, etc.) are priced separately from the standard areas, usually at a lesser price. Please know that these room sizes may vary by location.

How long will it take to clean my carpets?

On average, it will take approximately 20 minutes per room. This time can vary greatly depending on the amount of furniture to be moved, how soiled the carpet is, and any necessary spot removal treatments.

Do you move furniture?

We move small items. We do recommend to clear the area before the technician arrives.

How long will it take for my carpet to dry?

Dry time is affected by humidity, temperature and air flow to the area. It can take anywhere between 8-24 hours for the carpet to completely dry, depending on the aforementioned variables. Using fans in any rooms cleaned and turning your air conditioning or heating system on, depending on the time of year, can help accelerate drying time. Be sure to leave the protective blocks under furniture legs and any paper used with upholstered items in place until the carpet and/or furniture is completely dry to avoid any color transfer. You may walk on your carpet immediately after cleaning, but avoid wearing street shoes, as they may re-soil your carpet. We suggest wearing clean rubber soled shoes. Be especially careful when walking from damp, carpeted areas on to non-carpeted areas to avoid slipping.

I have heard that cleaning my carpet makes it soil faster. Is this true?

The problem results from residues being left in the carpet which attract dirt. Usually this is caused by the use of soap in the cleaning process that hasn’t been rinsed out completely. Our specially formulated solution and hot water extraction cleaning process leaves little to no residue behind to attract dirt.

I have had my carpet cleaned, but the spots have reappeared. What should I do?

Although most spots that are removed from carpet do not reappear, some substances in carpet backing may wick to the surface after cleaning. If this happens, please contact Indy Carpet Cleaning at 317-217-0737 as soon as possible.

Do you guarantee removal of all spots or stains in the carpet?

We cannot guarantee that we will remove all spots or stains. There are substances that can permanently discolor the carpet fibers. The age of the carpet and the type of carpet fibers also plays a factor in this. The technician will try to determine if this is the case prior to cleaning but they are not always able to determine this before trying to remove the spots.

After my carpet was cleaned, it has bubbles or ripples in the carpet. What caused this?

As the carpet dries, these bubbles or ripples should start to lay flat again. Once it is dry they should be virtually unnoticeable. This is usually a sign that the carpet was in need of restretching prior to the cleaning. If these ripples do not go away after it is completely dry, please contact Indy Carpet Cleaning at (317) 217-0737 as soon as possible.

Will carpet cleaning get rid of fleas in my carpet?

We cannot guarantee that the cleaning will get rid of all the fleas. We usually recommend that the customer kill the adult fleas first by whichever method they prefer, this is something that a professional exterminator might be able to help with. Please keep in mind that the carpet is not the only place fleas will lay eggs, you might consider having your upholstery treated and cleaned as well as any area rugs or pet beds.

Why do your prices vary from other carpet cleaners?

When comparing prices, make sure you ask a lot of questions and please keep a few things in mind. Our price includes treating for spots, moving furniture, and a 10-day satisfaction policy. There are no hidden fees or additional charges. Also, we never sub-contact, so our technicians are always background checked, drug tested and properly trained Indy Carpet Cleaning employees. This is what allows us to stand behind all of our work.

How do you guarantee customer satisfaction?

We are happy to work with you to correct any situation that may arise. In some cases this can mean spot cleaning specific areas of concern or even completely re-cleaning the area in question. In the end, we’re not satisfied until you are.
